  • Yes, many beaches in Whitby are dog-friendly. The main Whitby beach is dog-friendly, however, dogs are restricted during the months between May - September as to not disturb beach goers. Saltwick Bay Beach, which is easily accessible from the park, is dog-friendly all year round.

  • Yes, dogs are welcome at. Whitby Abbey - however, they must remain on the lead as to not disturb other visitors or damage property.

  • Yes, Whitby Abbey is an English Heritage Museum and is a hugely popular historic attraction in Whitby.

  • Yes, visitors are welcome to visit the Whitby Lifeboat Museum. The Lifeboat Museum is a fantastic attraction in Whitby, where guests can discover the history of lifeboats and the heroic work lifboat volunteers do.

  • Whitby Abbey has been attacked, destroyed and rebuilt several times over the years. Whitby Abbey was built and founded in 657 AD by Abbess Hilda as a important religious hub in Anglo-Saxon Egland. Much later, Whitby Abbey was turned to ruin during the 9th century Viking raids. Over time much like any other Medieval building, the Abbey suffered with erosion and aging, however it wasn't until the 'Dissolution of Monasteries' led by King Henry VIII in the 16th century.

  • When visiting Whitby, you'll see plenty of nods to the gothic subculture and the famous Dracula character. It is said that Bram Stoker came up with the idea of Dracula, whilst he was sat by the Whitby Abbey as he watched the fog roll into the harbour below.

  • No, to gain entry to Whitby Abbey you will need to pay for a ticket. The funds go towards maintaining the grounds and preserving this fantastic 1st-century monastery.

  • Yes, if you'd prefer to use public transport to visit Scarborough, you can catch the X93 bus from Whitby town centre. This bus will take you directly to Scarborough train station which is a short walk away from Scarborough town centre.

  • Whitby is surrounded by villages more than towns eg. Staithes, Lythe, Runswick Bay, Robin Hood's Bay. Though some nearby towns are Scarborough, Malton and Pickering

  • The Cleveland Way coastal footpath parts from Whitby Holiday Park and goes into Whitby town centre. This coastal walk leads visitors across the cliffs whilst providing fantastic views over the sea and local countryside. This walk usually takes thirty-minutes as it is a one-mile walk.

  • The Cleveland way coast path leads from the park entrance through the adjacent fields along the cliff top to Robin Hoods Bay, and take around 2.5-3 hours as it is approx a 6 mile walk. We advise that you wear suitable walking footwear for this path.
