During this family-friendly event you’ll see Bram Stoker’s Dracula, bought to life against the backdrop of Whitby Abbey. Enjoy immersive live theatre performances and sample a range of tasty food and drink.
Dressing up is encouraged, but not essential!
Halloween in Whitby
Every year Whitby Abbey is lit up with colourful projections as part of the ‘Illuminated’ event. The magnificent gothic architecture is flooded with the colours of the rainbow, creating a mystical atmosphere for all to enjoy.
On arrival, you’ll follow a trail of lights around the historic ruins where you’ll meet a series of otherworldly characters. They’ll tell you tales of the past!
Don’t forget to wrap up warm, it can get incredibly chilly in the North East at this time of year. There’s a handful or food and drink stands selling hot chocolate and other tasty treats. Gather round the fire pit to roast marshmallows at the end of the night.
Important info
The Illuminated Whitby Abbey Event is held outside of normal opening hours and does not include entry during the day. If you’d like to visit the Abbey and museum earlier in the day you will need to pay a separate admission fee.
